Scope

This document specifies terminology,classsification and test methods that are used for grading and discription of cultured pearl, This document also specified the requirements for graders, and basic contents of grading reports.

Purpose

In the past few years, more and more women all around the world, as the final consumer of Pearl jewelry products, show consumption enthusiasm for pearls. Faced with so many varieties of cultured pearls, quality is an important consideration for people to buy pearls. in order to standardize the evaluation system of pearl quality in pearl transaction and to promote the healthy development of the pearl industry, a standard of pearl grading is needed .with the business exchanges between countries become more and more closer and frequently, the unified international standard is beneficial to the pearl trade of the world and , to remove trade barrier, increase consumer confidence
