Revise the standard to modify accepted tolerances for small thicknesses as explained in point 3
A study from the WGM (German Metal Traders Association) highlights that for small wall thicknesses below 2 mm, the 755-8 standard creates difficulties for extrusion plants, as the calculated wall thickness tolerances fall below the limit of ±0.15 mm. This tolerance is too narrow, especially when small tube dimensions must be produced using multi-strand dies for economic reasons. Moreover, the 755-8 standard does not differentiate between alloys when setting wall thickness tolerances for round tubes. As a result, it applies the same tolerance to hard, more difficult-to-extrude materials as it does to softer, easier-to-extrude materials, which seems unreasonable. Thus, a modification of the standard would be needed.
