Requirements for handling test material and for conditioning both the test material before moulding and the specimens before testing are given.
Procedures and conditions for the preparation of test specimens and procedures for measuring properties of the materials from which these specimens are made are also given. Properties and test methods which are suitable and necessary to characterize POE moulding and extrusion materials are listed.
In order to obtain reproducible and comparable test results, it is necessary to use the methods of preparation and conditioning, the specimen dimensions and the test procedures specified herein. Values determined will not necessarily be identical to those obtained using specimens of different dimensions or prepared using different procedures.
1) The structure of POE leads to its high elasticity and toughness of rubber at room temperature, and it can also be plasticized at high temperatures, exhibiting thermal reversibility, excellent mechanical properties, weather resistance, and processing rheological properties. Therefore, it is widely used in photovoltaic batteries, automotive parts, packaging, aerospace, 5G / 6G communication and other fields, greatly impacting traditional plastics, rubber and other materials;
2) At present, there are many kinds of polyolefin elastomer (POE) manufacturers and product brands, and product performance evaluation methods are different. The development of this document will specify test sample preparation and conditioning methods, sample sizes and test procedures to help obtain repeatable and comparable test results;
3) The document will help the final properties of the polyolefin properties to obtain repeatable and comparable test results.
