Appliances covered by this document can be built-in or for placing on a working surface or the floor. This document is also applicable to portable appliances with similar functionalities. However, this document is not applicable for small-scale cooking appliances.
The appliances covered by this document can be with or without microwave function.
NOTE For measurement of energy consumption and time for thermal heat IEC 60350 -1 is applicable.
This document defines the main performance characteristics of these appliances that are of interest to the user and specifies methods for measuring these characteristics.
This document does not specify a classification or ranking for performance and it does not deal with safety requirements.
Cooking appliances are more and more in the focus of regulations related to energy efficiency requirements.
IEC 60350-1 already describes methods for evaluating the performance of steam ovens and combi steam ovens.
However, it does not yet contain a method for determining energy consumption for a cooking cycle with steam function.
Therefore, the performance requirements for steam ovens and combi steam ovens are now to be bundled in a new Part 3, and a new method for determining the energy consumption for a typical steam cycle is to be developed.
After publication of IEC 60350-3, IEC 60350-1 will be aligned.
In this context, SC 59K/WG01 has already conducted a first evaluation of the topic by analysing how to transform the already existing energy consumption measurement for ovens for a steam application. For measuring the humidity level, two approaches are und er discussion.
For the already existing methods for measuring the steam supply and steam distribution, consultations have already been held in WG 01 on how the methods can be improved in terms of reproducibility using new measurement methods.
