ISO/NP 25957-1 Textiles — Environmentally conscious chemical fibres — Part 1: Specifications of recycled chemical fibres

Scope

This document specifies the specifications, conformity evaluation methods, and labelling methods for recycled chemical fibres among chemical fibres are manufactured through environmentally conscious design, such as by using recycled or biomass materials as part or all of the raw materials (hereinafter referred to as "environmentally conscious chemical fibres").

Purpose

Due to growing consumer concern about environmental protection issues, there is a demand for ecodesign that uses recycled and bio-based materials. Currently, there are numerous textile products on retail stores that claim to contribute to the preservation of the global environment by using recycled/biobased materials. And textile manufacturers are promoting the development of environmentally friendly textile materials, but labelling related to environmentally friendly design in textile products is not included in quality labelling based on laws, and there are cases of “inappropriate labelling” and “incorrect labelling.” Therefore, it is crucial to develop a standard for environmentally friendly textile products to establish a unified labelling system, enabling consumers to make informed choices and purchase environmentally responsible textile products based on accurate information.
