This document specifies the functional and safety requirements and test methods for all types of portable/freestanding and permanent/socketed football goals having a total weight greater than 10 kg.
It is applicable to goals used for all forms of football for all age groups, including:
— 11 a-side football;
— Small-sided and junior football (all forms);
— Futsal;
— Recreational play;
— Training;
— Competition.
It is applicable to goals intended for use outdoors and indoors.
The following football goals are excluded:
EN 16664, Playing field equipment — Lightweight goals — Functional, safety requirements and test methods (lightweight goals of 10 kg or less).
NOTE The rules of futsal also allow the use of handball goals. Requirements for handball goals are given in EN 749.

This document specifies the functional requirements for 4 types and 2 sizes (see Clause 3) and the safety requirements (see Clause 4) for football goals.
It is applicable to football goals for training and competition in outdoor sports facilities and indoor arenas.
The following football goals are excluded:
a) EN 16579: goals with a size of 5,00 m × 2,00 m and 7,32 m × 2,44 m and with a total weight of ≥ 10 kg and ≤ 42 kg (total weight includes net, net fixing and any permanently attached anchoring or stabilizing system);
b) EN 16664: (lightweight goals).
The aim is, to create one standard for football goals and one standard for non-football goals, having a total weight greater than 10 kg, in order to make handling easier for the user.
