Scope

This document provides basic guideline for biomass gasification towards bio-methane production. Based on the description of each technical unit, this document can help to design and optimize the process.

This document is applicable to: -the enhancement of the biomass gasification plant construction, operation, and maintenance, -the utilization of bio-syngas for bio-methane production, - the guarantee of environmental and safety-related requirements.

Purpose

Verified market need.

1) Promote industry standardization. The establishment of international standards for biomass gasification methane production can lay the foundation for industry standardization, provide unified technical specifications and standards for enterprises to conduct trade in the international market, reduce transaction barriers and technical barriers, promote the transformation and upgrading of production methods, and improve company competitiveness.

2) Forecasting methane market size. According to GIR (Global Info Research), in terms of revenue, the global biogas and bio-methane revenue in 2021 will be approximately US$89,040 million, and it is expected to reach US$98,380 million in 2028. Therefore, it is a huge need of bio-methane, and the formulation of international standards is helpful to provide basic standards for promoting the global application of biomass energy.

3) Bio-methane can be produced from biomass gasification or anaerobic digestion. These technologies are mature and well-developed. The demand of bio-methane can boost the extension of biomass gasification market, thus achieve additional benefits.

Problem to solve.

1) The product performance of biomass gasification methane is closely related to different biomass raw materials, production processes, equipment conditions, and other factors. The formulation of international standards can regulate products' physical and chemical properties, energy conversions, and pollutant emissions, which can improve product quality and stability, and make it adapt to a broader range of application requirements.

The value of the document.

1) It can encourage enterprises and scientific research institutions to conduct innovative research and promote and apply technological innovation.

2) It is helpful to promote new technologies, materials, and processes, and improve production efficiency and product quality.

3) It contributes to promoting technological innovation and industrial upgrading and improves economic and social benefits.

4) Standardized biomass gasification methane products can better meet market demand, open broader application scenarios, provide more technical and application support for implementing energy transformation and environmental protection concepts.
