Scope

This British standard specifies test methods for powered smoke and heat control ventilators (fans) conforming to BS EN 12101-3 that are intended to be used with frequency converters (variable speed drives).

Purpose

Existing product certification standards do not address new applications. Industry and stakeholders urgently require a test method with performance output to provide a reliable, evidence based, repeatable test procedure in order to demonstrate suitability of combinations of powered Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilation Systems (SHEVs) and frequency converters (variable speed drives).
