They are designed for use in residential buildings, both individual and collective, and in non-residential buildings (establishments open to the public, tertiary sector premises, technical premises, industrial or agricultural buildings, infrastructures) for new constructions or renovations.
The nominal diameters of the cast iron pipes usually used for this application are 150, 200, 300 and 500mm.
Cast iron includes lamellar graphite cast iron and ductile cast iron.
Climatic well is a geothermal and passive solution for air cooling or air pre-heating to be blowed inside building. No product standard exists at that time giving a technical frame for the assessment of important characteristic for climatic well systems. Therefore, this text aims to give a technical frame for the assessment of the following characteristics concerning a climatic well system made of cast iron pipes and fittings:
- Thermal efficiency
- Air intake pressure drop performance
- Air quality supplied
- Resistance to mechanical & bacterial aggressions
- Tightness and durability
- Environmental characteristics
- Product documentation and information
- Mechanical properties
