This method is applicable to carboxylic-acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber with carboxyl content not less than 1%.
Carboxylic-acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (XNBR) is a synthetic rubber synthesized by the copolymerization of acrylonitrile, butadiene and unsaturated carboxylic acid. Compared with acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), XNBR shows higher oil resistance, wear resistance and mechanical strength, and these properties are directly related to the carboxyl content. Therefore, accurate determination of carboxyl content is crucial for the quality control and application of XNBR. At present, there is no ISO document for the determination of carboxyl content in XNBR. This document proposes a method for the determination of carboxyl content in XNBR using elemental analyser.
Oxygen analysis is a method that converts the oxygen content of XNBR into the carboxyl content. This method can significantly improve analysis efficiency, so it is a rapid method. Due to the limitation of instrument sensitivity, it is suitable for the determination of XNBR with carboxyl content not less than 1%.
At the ISO/TC45/SC3/WG5 working group meeting held in Nara, Japan in 2024, China applied for the project and was approved by the meeting.
