Scope

This EN defines product specific rules (PSR) for Rotating Electrical Machines. It specifies the process and requirements on how to conduct life cycle assessment (LCA) in the context of environmental product assessments for rotating electrical machines operating direct-on-line or intended for frequency converter (variable speed drive) operation.

Purpose

This project is clearly a European Economic Area (EEA) topic due to its connection to the EU Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, to the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR 2024/1781), and the EU Circular Economy Action Plan. But, in a second step, in case of global interest and depending on international horizontal standards issued from IEC/TC 111 (Environmental aspect for EEE), this document should be offered and maintained at the IEC level for possible global applicability.
