Scope

This document defines the metrology requirements for measuring systems that measure transferred energy between stationary conductive direct-current and alternating-current electric vehicle supply equipment and electric vehicles. This document contains requirements as well as criteria for testing measuring systems. This document specifies in addition requirements such as for: — the measurement of the duration of the energy transfer session; — energy transfer at different tariffs, e.g. rates changing during charging session; — consideration of cable losses; — sealing; — bi-directional energy transfer. Electric vehicle supply equipment measuring systems (EVSE-MS) as defined in this document are intended to be used for electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) complying such as with IEC 61851-series. This document does not: — cover data communication protocols — specify onboard measuring equipment for rolling stock, according to EN 50463-series and IEC 62888-series The requirements for AC and DC static meters are specified in EN 50470-3:2022 and EN 50470-4:2023. NOTE This document can be used for other metering applications similar to EVSE, as far as applicable, eg. applications for the electrical energy transfer to vessels.

Purpose

Following a TC13 vote (CIV tool : TC13/Sec0191/Q - switch EN 50732 to a TS), previous project prEN50732 with a similar scope has been cancelled due to lack of time. TC13 decided (within same vote) to continue the work within a TS, with an updated scope. Work will start from WD2 of cancelled project prEN50732. It is planned that this TS will be later converted to an EN - especially once MID targeted amendment bringing some requirements for EVSE will be approved.
