Scope

This document specifies a method for the extraction of the total sulfur contained in fertilizers in elemental form and/or in other chemical combinations. The method is applicable to inorganic fertilizers for which a declaration of the total sulfur present in various forms (elemental, thiosulfate, sulfite, sulfate) is provided.

Purpose

In the frame of standardization request M/564 and its amendments harmonized standards shall refer to test methods to be applied for verifying the conformity of CE marked fertilizing products with the requirements set out in Regulation (EU) 2019/1009. This European Standard deals with the extraction of total sulfur in various forms in inorganic fertilizers and should be revised to support Regulation (EU) 2019/1009.
