They range from simple binary stream files to text-based files readable by humans, machine-interpretable files, and files that, while human-readable, require interpretation and re-expression through complex logical structures and relationships. These digital document files may encounter challenges in preservation and accessibility due to technical obsolescence, environmental changes, or organizational causes, the following reason: - file format compatibility issues - software/hardware dependencies - file corruption - data integrity issues - ageing of storage media - environmental factors - lack of preservation policies - failure of key management
