Scope

A European standard for hardened protective shelters is needed to ensure consistent safety and protection for citizens across all member states. It promotes uniformity in design, construction, and performance criteria, enabling shelters to effectively safeguard people from weapon effects, natural disasters, and industrial accidents. By aligning civilian and industrial protection efforts, such a standard enhances preparedness, minimizes risks, and ensures that shelters meet the same high standards for reliability and durability across Europe, fostering resilience and public safety in both peace and crisis scenarios.
