This NWIP is applicable to TPL-GRP pipes for use in transportation pipelines transporting corrosive media-containing single-phase or multi-phase fluid such as oil, gas and water for the petroleum and natural gas industries. It can also be used as reference in other fields.
Thermoplastic lined glass fiber reinforced plastic pipes(referred to as TPL-GRP pipes, also called dual laminate pipes) have been successfully applied in oil and gas pipeline transport system, achieving good anti-corrosion and cost reduction effects due to the combination of the high strength of GRP and the high corrosion resistance and barrier property of thermoplastic. In some cases the TPL-GRP pipes are selected as alternatives to high grade CRA pipes. However, there is no international standard for TPL-GRP pipes, which brings much inconvenience to the manufacturing, testing, inspection, ordering and application.
