Scope

This standard specifies guidelines for integration of accumulation subsystems for electric energy storage systems (EESS) with different design specifications. This includes the integration of accumulation subsystem with different history, such as reused and repurposed battery, into EESS. The standard provides information to ensure the performance of the entire system before and after integration, with a focus on compatibility, performance evaluation, and operational adjustments necessary when integrating units with diverse specifications. It includes technical guidelines important for integrating units that differs in design specifications, such as electrical compatibility, communication compatibility, and performance monitoring during operation. This standard specifies the acquisition of data related to the verification of performance concerning the occurrence of complex characteristic changes during operation, which may arise from the integration of accumulation subsystems with various specifications, and the verification of the operational performance of the EESS.

Purpose

The development of a standard for integrating accumulation subsystems with different design specifications into Electric Energy Storage Systems (EESS) is essential due to the increasing complexity and diversity of energy storage solutions. As the demand for efficient and cost-effective energy storage systems grows, there is a need to introduce subsystems, which includes reused and repurposed batteries, that may have varied operational histories. These variations pose unique challenges in terms of performance, compatibility, and long-term reliability, which current standards do not fully address.

This standard aims to ensure the seamless integration of these diverse subsystems into EESS. It will provide standards for evaluating compatibility, monitoring performance, and managing operational adjustments. This is particularly important given the challenges associated with non-uniform deterioration trends and the influence of weak units on overall system performance.

Introducing a standardized approach to testing, monitoring, and performance verification is vital to maintain the reliability and cost-effectiveness of energy storage systems in an evolving energy landscape. This standard will address the growing need for flexible and scalable energy solutions while ensuring that system expansion and technological advancements can be achieved without compromising the stability and performance of the entire system.
