Scope

This document specifies requirements for the construction, performance and protective packaging of Category F4 fireworks, as listed in clauses 4 and 5.

This document does not apply to fireworks intended to be kept or used at temperatures below −20 °C or above 50 °C

This document does not apply for articles containing pyrotechnic compositions that include any of the following substances:

— arsenic or arsenic compounds;

— polychlorobenzenes;

— lead or lead compounds;

— mercury compounds;

— white phosphorus;

— picrates or picric acid.

Note: When necessary (e.g. in the case of doubtful information), the presence of such substances may be detected in accordance with ISO 22863 series. The measured values will be compared to corresponding thresholds (if any) in accordance with other national regulations.

In addition, any European regulation regarding forbidden substances is intended to be taken into account.

Purpose

CEN/TC 212/WG 2 follows the CEN/TC 212’s decisions approved on 2024-07-18 based on CAG RECOMMENDATION V-II to WG 1, WG 2, WG 3 and WG 5 dd 2024-03-06 to merge all parts of the EN 16261 series.

In harmonized standards ESRs shall not be covered by more than one document. The merging shall facilitate to fulfil this requirement.
