Scope

This European Standard applies to navigation lights on inland navigation and sea­going vessels.

Purpose

Require a review of BS EN 14744:2005. The Standard allows navigational lights which fail to achieve functional performance standards to be Type Approved. This then enables lights of significant intensity to display far outside of the sectors mandated in The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS).
