This document specifies the test gases, test pressures and categories of appliances relative to the use of new gaseous fuels of the second family containing up to 20 % hydrogen (H2NG-Y20).
The document makes recommendations for the use of the gases and pressures to be applied for the tests of appliances burning gaseous fuels including hydrogen (admixtures).
EN 437 (that will be renumbered as EN 437-1 as per the on-going revision of the 2021 version) defines test gases and test pressures to be used when type-testing appliances intended to burn natural gas distributed. EN 437 (that will be renumbered as EN 437-1 as per the on-going revision of the 2021 version) defines also categories of appliances that is the mean of identifying the gas families and/or gas groups for which a gas appliance is designed to operate safely and to the desired performance level.
Faced to decarbonation issue, industry wish to develop appliances capable of burning new gaseous fuels, such as blends of natural gas and hydrogen but EN 437 (that will be renumbered as EN 437-1 as per the on-going revision of the 2021 version) do not address these new gaseous fuels.
The Technical Specification to develop intends to specify the test gases, test pressures and categories of appliances relative to the use of new gaseous fuels of the second family containing up to 20 % hydrogen (H2NG-Y20). It should make recommendations for the use of the gases and pressures to be applied for the tests of appliances burning gaseous fuels including hydrogen (admixtures).
