Scope

The scope of the proposed work item will be:
The context of the work done within CoRoM,
The data information flow and steps required for purchasing any multimodal travel
(including basic after sale), from the perspective of travellers,
How to use Transmodel (EN 12896) to represent them (only Transmodel based concepts
and data structure should be taken into account),
A study of a range of existing APIs and their functionalities, which include OSDM, TOMPAPI, BoB, Entur API, FerryGateway, (EU) 454/2011 (TAP TSI) etc.
The implication of such study for Transmodel (EN 12896)
The implication of such study on the purchase APIs taking into account the Transmodel
approach.
The last part of this proposed work item will inform the revision of Transmodel Parts 5 and 6 (EN
128965 and EN 128966) and NeTEx Part 3 (TS 166143).

All interactions can be related to persistent identity
The following items are not in scope:

 travel planning
payment as interface with bank SI
 access right validation
 access right control

Purpose

This proposal relates to the CoRoM project, which is to provide support to the work to be carried
out by the European Standardisation Organizations (ESOs) for the coordination and
standardisation of purchase (including basic aftersale) interfaces (also called Booking APIs) for
multimodal travel (including long distance rail). The main objective of the CoRoM project is to
facilitate the interoperability of data exchanges between the various stakeholders which provide
multimodal travel opportunities to the public, including the “first and last mile” legs of the travel.
This proposal directly relates to the abovementioned project as one of its deliverables: a
technical report that would go hand in hand with the revision of Transmodel Parts 5 and 6 (EN
128965 and EN 128966) and NeTEx Part 3 (TS 166143). This technical report is to act as a
collection of:
The broader context of the revision of the abovementioned EN and TS,
Inputs from the experts on how purchase (including basic aftersale) interfaces (with or
without reservation) are addressed in different IT systems dedicated to multimodal travel,
including long distance rail,
 Usecases from the travellers’ perspectives
Existing CEN/TR 17949:2023 Public transport Distribution APIs for MaaS
Existing APIs including OSDM, TOMPAPI, BoB, Entur API, FerryGateway, (EU)
454/2011 (TAP TSI)…
Guidelines for the future building of purchase (including basic aftersale) interfaces (or
APIs) using Transmodel (EN 12896) that are aligned with NeTEx (TS 16614), SIRI (EN/TS
15531) and OJP (TS 17118) standards.
