Scope

This document specifies an analytical method to determine aerosol collected mass (ACM) and nicotine in trapped aerosol from electrically heated tobacco products

Purpose

Within the ISO/TC 126/WG 22 (Tobacco Heating Systems), it has been agreed to develop standards for the priority compounds in HTP aerosol (ISO/TC 126/WG 22 N 93). ISO/TC 126/WG 22 asked ISO/TC 126 for a new ISO/PWIs on Tobacco heating systems - Nicotine and aerosol collected mass (project leader: Takatsugu Hyodo) (ISO/TC 126 N 1948). Draft Resolution C08/2022 - Adoption of PWI " Tobacco heating systems - Nicotine and aerosol collected mass has been agreed by ISO/TC 126 (ISO/TC 126 N 1959). WG 22 decided to develop standards by subcategory in accordance with separate standards for puffing regimes by sub-categories (ISO/TC 126/WG 22 N 169). The purpose of this NWIP is therefore to initiate the work for the development of the standard for aHTP as part 2.
