The document covers test procedure for the detection of collected leakage currents in PV integrated LVDC power system, and the leakage current limits of the sudden change and continuous one as well as the response times of disconnection functions employed to interrupt the leakage currents. The document defines reference scenarios according to which the testing is conducted. This document covers detection functions embedded in Energy Management System (EMS) of LVDC power systems. However, the leakage current detections of device and equipment are out of this scope. This document is not applicable to DC sources or applications other than PV integrated LVDC power system.
The rapid development of LVDC power supply systems for data centers, green buildings, EV charging stations, intelligent factories and other occasions, presents huge market potential. Leakage current detection function for Energy Management System (EMS) embedded in PV integrated LVDC power system is become one of the mandatory functions for DC grid operators. Therefore, one leading standard about leakage current limits and test procedures at system level shall be proposed and drafted, thereby stipulating industry development and making sure the test validity. Due to the large PV panel area, non-negligible parasitic capacitance to ground is emerging in commonmode loop of PV integrated LVDC power system, the switching action of power semiconductor switches in PV DC converters may produce high-frequency time-varying common-mode voltage acting on the parasitic capacitance, as a consequence, common-mode current (also known as leakage current, residual current and contact current) appears in the PV integrated LVDC system. More PV DC converters integrated into LVDC power system, higher leakage current collected. The collected leakage current may harm personal shock risk. Therefore, setting the safety limits and testing the collected leakage current detection performance of EMS in PV integrated LVDC power system are very important in order to guarantee the security and reliability of LVDC grid. This Standard document specifies safety limits, test circuits, test condition and test methods for collected leakage current of EMS which are designed to be as non-site-specific as possible, it means that leakage current detection function measured at one test site, for example, can also be considered valid at other sites. This proposal has already had multiple rounds of communication with the IEC experts in SC 8A WG7 group meeting during the preparation process, and will continue to maintain close communication and
cooperation in the subsequent development process to avoid unnecessary duplication.
