Test methods on Mechanical properties and Chemical properties (coating analysis) are included. By agreement, these test methods may be applied to similar single filaments used for reinforcing other rubber products.
The rapid development of the global automobile industry and transportation industry has greatly promoted the development of the tire industry. In order to adapt to the development of the tire industry, the bead wire industry has also undergone tremendous changes, and more and higher requirements have been put forward for the accuracy and precision of bead wire products and testing methods. At present, the international standard ISO16650 for bead wire products only briefly describes the basic test items of bead wire, but there is no further guidance for specific test methods, and at the same time, there is no other general test method standard in the world, and ASTM D4975-04 (Standard Test Method for Single-Filament Tire Bead Wire Made) is used more from Steel), but the standard was last updated in 2004, which failed to keep pace with the development of industry test methods, and could not meet the constantly updated product specifications and customer needs, such as: the standard only listed five test methods (breaking force, yield strength, elongation, torsion resistance, diameter), missing the current commonly used methods, Such as (flexions, arc height, residual torsions, straightness, tip rise and coating analysis). The lack of international standards for bead wire test methods and the differences in reference standards in various countries lead to the inability to choose general international standards for the implementation of bead wire in production and acceptance, and the supply and demand sides must attach more additional terms to carry out product acceptance and trade activities in the business trade, which is not convenient for technical communication and increases the cost of operation and trade. At the same time, due to the lack of general international standards, there are great differences in the definition of test items, the description of test methods and the judgment of test results in different countries. To sum up, it is recommended to formulate an international standard for "Testing Method for Bead Wire Part 1: General requirement ", with the aim of promoting the use of consistent and accurate test methods for the inspection of steel cord products in international trade in different countries. This product standard deals with test methods for the processability, mechanical properties and chemical properties of bead wires.
