Scope

To specify the general requirements for current and voltage transformers intended to be used for low voltage applications (≤1000 V AC and 1500 V DC)

Purpose

During its 2014 Plenary meeting in Tokyo, TC38 decided to split the IEC 61869-xxx series of standards into two separate groups of documents: dedicated to HV applications and LV applications respectively.

The LV group of standards will be numbered from -201 onwards.

This project is intended to issue the first publication, covering common requirements for instrument transformers for LV applications (≤1000 V AC and 1500 V DC).

It is deemed necessary after the publication of IEC 61869-1 Ed. 2, which is now covering applications >1000 V only.

This project does not cover safety aspects, that will be covered by a separate publication.
