Standards Development
This product standard applies to wireless communication devices used at distances up to and including 200 mm from the human body, i.e. when held in the hand or in front of the face, mounted on the body, combined with other transmitting or non-transmitting devices or accessories (e.g. belt-clip, camera or Bluetooth add-on), or integrated into garments. The applicable frequency range is from 10 GHz to 300 GHz. The objective of this standard is to demonstrate the compliance of such devices with the basic restrictions and exposure limit values related to human exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic fields by using measurement methods.
The 5G NR communication systems have extended the transmission frequency range to above 10 GHz frequencies. In the frequency range 10 GHz to 300 GHz the basic restrictions and exposure limit values related to human exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic fields are expressed in terms of power density. The purpose of the project is to prepare product standard for wireless communication devices used at distances up to and including 200 mm from the human body, at frequency range of 10 GHz to 300 GHz, by using measurement methods.
