PNW 85-924 ED1: Electrical safety in low voltage distribution systems up to 1.000 V AC and 1.500 V DC - Equipment for testing, monitoring or measuring the protective measures in energy distribution system - part 19: Monitoring device for earthing impedance in IT-systems

Scope

This part of IEC 61557 specifies the requirements for permanent monitoring of the earthing impedance Ze used in

- AC IT systems with voltages up to 1 000 V AC

- AC IT systems with galvanically connected DC circuits having nominal voltages up to 1 000 V AC, 1 500 V DC

- DC IT systems with voltages up to 1 500 V DC

Purpose

The purpose of an earthing impedance in an unearthed system (IT-System) can be very different and can range from functional purposes to protective purposes. The health and condition of the impedance is responsible for proper working protection against electric shock or proper working protection of property. To reduce the risk of electrical shock or damages there is a demand for monitoring this impedance.
