Scope
The Standard specifies the technical requirements the minimum labelling and user instructions of
theatrical pyrotechnic articles shall comply with to ensure the safety of users, attendances and
environment.
Purpose
The proposed standard is part of a series of standards applicable to theatrical pyrotechnic articles. The
development of such series was discussed and accepted at the last plenary meeting of ISO/TC 264 on
2020-09-15. Considering the existing and foreseeable international market for theatrical pyrotechnic
articles, it was considered that it would be useful for quality and safety purposes to make use of
international standards for such articles as it has already been done for consumer and professional
fireworks. The development of the proposed series of standards will create an international reference
for the placing on the market of articles that will comply with the same construction and performance
requirements and the will set up a trustable basis for fair competition between manufacturers and
importers.
The other parts of the proposed series of standards deal respectively with terminology (part 1),
categorization (part 2), requirements (part 3) and test methods (part 5)
