This document presents a fault analysis of AC/DC hybrid electrical installations that use galvanically separating converter equipment, including distribution networks, and have a rated/nominal DC system voltage up to and including 1 500 V.
The fault analysis described in this document is necessary in order to define the correct protective measures to be implemented in DC systems powered through a galvanically separate converter equipment
The analysis consists of the following qualitative evaluations:
1) Qualitative evaluation of fault currents
2) Qualitative evaluation of voltage rise against earth and possible overvoltages due to a fault.
3) Identification of quantities worth monitoring for protection purposes.
4) Evaluation of fault impact on power converters
