PNW TS SYCLVDC-150 ED1 Management of active parts and exposed conductive parts with isolated converters

Scope

This document presents the analysis of the management of active parts and exposed conductive parts towards earth in some defined installations, where the DC section is connected to the AC grid by means of an AC/DC converter with galvanic separation.

Purpose

This document is needed to prepare an analysis of the faults that can happen in the following distributions systems:

1) DC users connected to a public DC distribution grid having a single interface with the AC public grid

2) DC users connected to a public DC distribution grid having multiple interfaces with AC public grid

3) DC users connected to a public low voltage AC distribution grid by means of the users’ AC/DC conversion system

Fault analysis is the basis to guarantee the safety of electrical installations
