At present, there is no international standard specifically for underwater vehicles in nuclear and radiation application environments. Relevant standards mainly involve the requirements of underwater vehicles in non-nuclear and radiation environments, mainly in underwater scenarios such as oceans and rivers. The underwater vehicle standards in the field of oceans and rivers focus on deep-sea and wide-area and precise operation of nuclear and radiation underwater scenes.
In IEC/TC45/WG18 planning, the top standard is IEC 63048, the future consideration of MRCs divided into ground, airborne, underwater three directions to carry out standardization work. Respectively, the corresponding standard number is 63048-1, 63048-2, 63048-3. This proposal proposes general requirements for MRCs for underwater nuclear and radiological applications, with the proposed standard number IEC 63048-3. The purpose of this project is to develop common technical standards to guide the design, manufacture, the purchase and use of underwater vehicles.
In the last meeting in October 2023, experts from WG18 unanimously agreed to submit the international standard proposal application for "Nuclear and Radioactive Applications Mobile Remote Control Systems - Performance and Test Requirements for Underwater Vehicles" through Chinese National Committee.( 45/966/MTG:45 (SEC_virtual2023) 9 - Report of WG18).
This document does not cover applications other than nuclear applications, including standards such as personal development of protective equipment as well as industrial, service-related and medical applications that are the responsibility of ISO TC299.
