PNW TS 82-2222 ED1 Photovoltaic devices - Part 1-3: Measurement of current-voltage characteristics of curved photovoltaic (PV) devices

Scope

This technical specification defines procedures for the measurement of the current-voltage characteristics of curved photovoltaic devices in simulated sunlight. It is applicable to single PV cells, sub-assemblies of such cells, or entire PV modules. It is principally intended for non-concentrating devices.

Purpose

The photovoltaic modules' measurement method and relevance formula are based on the assumption that photovoltaic modules are flat. Some of the recent products of photovoltaic modules are curved like VIPV (Vehicle-Integrated Photovoltaic). This NP is to standardize the performance test method of curved photovoltaic modules. The VIPV supplies electricity by sunlight and charges the batteries of vehicles. The potential market is assumed 50 GW/yr, considering the statistics of annual automobile sales.
