Draft Decision C211/2024 - Adoption of a New Work Item - Revision of EN 1915-3:2004+A1:2009

Scope

This European Standard deals with whole body vibration as a significant hazard. It also specifies the methods for determining the vibration emission transmitted to the whole body of drivers standing and/or seated on freely moveable GSE, when driving for purposes of type evaluation, declaration and methods of verifying vibration emission.

The test results are not applicable to the determination of whole body vibration exposure of persons.

This European Standard is intended to be used in conjunction with the other parts of EN 1915, and with the relevant part of EN 12312.

Purpose

Diego Alonso-Tabares suggests starting a revision and to do it under the Vienna agreement. It should become an EN ISO standard.

The following comments were submitted during the systematic review:

- 8.2.4 When driving on bumpy surfaces, the suspended seat may hit the top or the bottom stopper

- 9.1 Some vehicles may drive at a speed much higher than 10 km/h (i.e. 30 km/h)

- 11. 2 tests shall be carried out for GSE with a maximal speed over 20 km/h. Declaration of vibration emission values shall be done for both tests

- 13. The manufacturer shall declare the maximum recommended daily driving time
