ISO/PWI 4907-5.2 Plastics — Ion exchange resin — Part 5: Determination of water content by centrifugation

Scope

This document specifies the method for determining the water content of ion exchange resins by oven drying after centrifugation. This document applies to the determination of water content of ion exchange resin that is continuously dried at 105  ~ 110  without thermal degradation.

Purpose

Water content is an important performance of ion exchange resin, which represents the equilibrium water combined with the active group or retained in the hole. It can reflect the resin's structure, crosslinking degree, porosity and production process. The key of water content measurement of ion exchange resin is how to remove external free water. At present, there is no unified method to determine the water content of ion exchange resin in the world, so it is necessary to establish the corresponding standard. This method is one of the test methods of ion exchange resin series.
