This document does not apply to aluminium and steel trusses in accordance with EN 17115 and lifting accessories designed and manufactured according to harmonized Type C standards under the EU machinery directive/regulation like EN 818 series on short link chains, EN 13414 series on steel wire rope slings, EN 13155 on Non-fixed load lifting attachments.
The purpose of this proposal is to establish an EN Standard that defines the minimum quality and safety requirements for the design and manufacture of accessories for lifting and holding loads above persons used in the entertainment industry. Furthermore the application of the term ELL – Entertainment Load Limit, established for machinery in EN 17206, on equipment which is not a permanent part of a machinery, e.g. Truss brackets, Hanging clamps, shall be defined. The justification for this proposal is the existing lack of standards requirements for the design and manufacture of design and manufacture of accessories for lifting and holding loads above persons in many
CEN member states, which impairs a common levl of sufficient product safety and free movement of goods.
