ISO/IEC NP 29794-9 Information technology — Biometric sample quality — Part 9: Vascular image data

Scope

The proposed work specifies the standardized method of representing, interpreting and exchanging the quality information of images used in biometric identification or verification technology using human vascular biometric images, gives the defect factors of the quality of vascular image and the classification of the quality of vascular image collected from different parts of the human body, gives guidelines for analysing the quality of vascular image, and gives the definition of unified quality score. The proposed work is applicable to the development and evaluation of vascular image quality algorithm.

Purpose

Biometric identification technology can effectively improve the convenience and security of personal identification, which has broad application prospects and social and economic benefits. The association between biometric samples and quality data is an important part of the standardization of biometric measurement. Quality metrics in biometric identification are of great value. Including: encouraging competition, innovation, interoperability and performance improvement; Avoid favouring specific applications, modes, or technologies. Many applications can benefit from using biometric sample quality data; For example, provide real-time quality feedback during login to improve the operational efficiency and performance of biometric identification systems. In order to improve the performance of biometric identification system, the quality data can be effectively analysed together with other data by merging the specified quality domain into data exchange format. The quality of vascular image data is closely related to the performance of vascular recognition system. High quality vascular image can significantly improve the recognition rate of the system. Therefore, quality information is very important in many applications. ISO/IEC 19784-1:2006 and ISO/IEC 19785-1:2006 allocate a quality domain for quality scores and specify the allowed range of scores. According to the recommendations in these criteria, the quality score will be subdivided into four categories, each corresponding to a qualitative interpretation. The image quality domain is also defined in ISO/IEC 19794-9:2007 standardized vascular image data Exchange format. However, no standard quality fraction definition method has been developed to help interpret and exchange vascular image fractions. The purpose of the proposed work is to find a method to represent and interpret palm image quality score in objective and quantitative form. The proposed work is the basic standard of vascular image recognition technology in the field of biometric recognition and plays a supporting role in the application of vascular image recognition.
