ISO/IEC NP TS 25007 C Extensions to Support Generalized Function Calls

Scope

This document specifies a series of extensions to the programming language C defined in ISO/IEC 9899.

Purpose

The extensions furnish mechanisms to provide more information to the C implementation to support function calls that do not modify external state. The result enhances security by improving the analyzability of programs, and facilitates optimization by indicating parts of a program where a C implementation may make translation-time assumptions about the source code.
