Scope

This document defines the approach to maintain type approval, design and safety qualification of building-integrated PV modules including modules with more than two glass panes and insulating glass modules which are made up of a certified glass-glass PV module.

The performance of the final BIPV product can be impacted by the change in either the structure or the manufacturing process of the BIPV modules. 

This document lists typical structure and the retesting requirements on the different test standards. Those products successfully passing the test procedures defined in this standard are considered to be compliant with the standard in a full qualification.

Purpose

IEC63092-1 defines how to certificate BIPV product. Actually, in most cases, the manufacturers have the certification on the glass-glass PV modules. In this case how other BIPV products shall perform the certification? Of course, a complete series of tests could be done to certify the BIPV products from the very beginning. BIPV products are highly customized. It is really time consuming to get the certification if each BIPV product has to perform all the tests. And in fact it is not necessary to repeat all the tests since the basic module structure has not been changed. It is urgently needed to make a guideline to define the re-certification procedure of BIPV products in addition to IEC63092-1 and IEC62915 standards.
