Standards Development
This standard specifies general requirements for grade 10X chain slings.
The standard covers chain slings assembled by mechanical joining devices and welding.
Requirements for safety, manufacturing, use and maintenance of chain slings of grade 8 have been covered by European harmonized standards for decades. Grade 10X chain slings are still not covered by European standards despite such products being manufactured and placed on the EU market and used within industry.
Work has begun on a preliminary work item for grade 10 chain, notably;
WI 00168146 Round steel short link chain for general lifting purposes – medium tolerance sling chain – grade 10G from quenched and tempered alloy steel, and;
WI 00168147 Round steel short link chain for extended lifting purposes – medium tolerance sling chain – grade 10X, from quenched and tempered alloy steel.
