NWIP EN 26 Revision - Gas-fired instantaneous water heaters for the production of domestic hot water

Scope

Same scope as in EN 26:2015

Purpose

In 2015, CEN/TC 48 has taken the decision to draft an amendment to EN 26/2015 in order to take into account the comments made by the CEN Consultant at the formal vote step. In the meanwhile, the implementation of the “Gas appliances Regulation” 426/2016/UE (GAR) were to made progress and some modifications have to be made to this standard in order to fulfil the CEN rules and to be published as Harmonized standard.

This is the reason why it was suggested to directly initiate the revision of EN 26 and to give up the drafting of amendments. Since this period, EN 26 (and drafts) has been assessed twice by the HAS Consultant with negative result. The answer to the objections and remarks from the HAS have been solved but it was difficult to reach the harmonization in that context.

That is why CEN/TC48 Members decided in 2023 to publish (as soon as possible) the standard with no reference to European Regulations so that it was useable by industry and to undertake in parallel a NWIP to target an ENh.

The objective of the NWIP is to:

- check the implementation of the consultant comments, given in the assessments (2021 and 2022, and LCA 2023).

- take into account some technical and editorial comments (especially from PT Delegation).

- propose an Harmonized standard answering the Mandate M/595 adopted in August 2023 by CEN/CCMC.
