PNW 2-2156 ED1: Specific test methods for determining losses and efficiency of water submersible motors

Scope

This part of IEC 60034 is intended to establish test methods of determining efficiencies of submerged motors, and to specify methods of obtaining specific losses.

This standard applies to submersible motors installed submerged in a liquid or dry-installed applied (e.g. in deep well or waste water applications). The motors in scope are designed and protected to enable continuous operation fully submerged in liquid.

This standard applies to line fed A.C. synchronous and induction submersible motors of all sizes within the scope of IEC 60034-1.

Purpose

oday, submersible electric motors are not covered by any test standard to create a reproducible test result and performance data. This standard defines how to test submersible motors in scope.

Globally there is no test standard available.

An accepted global standard enables efficient and transparent testing of submersible motors. This will gain advantage of all stakeholders (e.g., manufactures, users and regulators).
