BS 6262-3:2005 Revision Glazing for buildings - Code of practice for fire, security and wind loading

Scope

• The scope will change to include sloping glazing. ‘This part of BS 6262 gives information and recommendations for vertical and sloping glazing in the external walls and interiors of buildings, with respect to fire safety, security and wind loading.’

• The standard is now out of date and will need to be revised to cover sloping glazing as well as vertical.

• Needs complete revision to meet current best practice and incorporate relevant parts of BS 5516-2 about sloping glazing.

• Needs to introduce national application of load resistance calculation methodology of BS EN 16612

• Guidance on fire safety, particularly reaction to fire, needs to be aligned with latest requirements

Purpose

Under the direction of the Standards Policy & Strategy Committee is responsible for the UK input into CEN/TC 129 and ISO/TC 160, their related sub-committees and working groups in the development of Standards for Glass and Glazing in Buildings.
