The EN 13178:2000 needs to be revised as it is included in the Table 1 “List of existing standards to be revised” of Annex I to the European Commission Implementing Decision C(2020)7924 on the PPE Standardisation Request in support of Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
Furthermore, following the systematic review closed early June 2023, experts indicated that EN 13178 refers to obsolete standards such as EN 1836 (replaced by EN ISO 12312-1), EN 174 (replaced by EN ISO 18527-1) and standards EN 166, EN 167 and EN 168 replaced by EN ISO 16321-1 and the EN ISO 18526 series of standards. Revision is needed given the need to incorporate the changes from EN to EN ISO in the eye protection methods documents.
