1) A synopsis of approaches to conformity assessment in the ISO framework and in the JCGM framework.
2) It discusses practical scenarios of conformity assessment involving sampling with emphasis on the use of prior information.
3) It outlines the necessary mathematical-statistical methodology for sampling based conformity assessment.
4) How to use prior information based conformity assessment and integrate into the existing framework of SC 5 standards
For conformity assessment in variables sampling the definitions of producer risk and consumer risk in the ISO standards and in JCGM 106 (Evaluation of measurement data—The role of measurement uncertainty in conformity assessment) are not consistently defined. A Bayesian approach is used in JCGM 106. Members believed that the sample sizes of many plans are widely perceived to be too large, and that further information should be used to be able to reduce the size of the tests. This TR to cover these issues and makes recommendation as to how to include prior information in acceptance sampling.
