Scope

Purpose

This specification provides a method of describing the materials, impregnates and lubricants for various types of yarn and ribbon based packings intended for use as gland seals in mechanical equipment such as pumps. There is no international standard to determine quality and safety aspects of packings (BS 4371 is an related standard but obsolete).

This project proposal is made by the European Sealing Association (ESA).
