NWI for EN 12608-4 Unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) profiles for the fabrication of windows and doors — Classification, requirements and test methods — Part 4: PVC-U profiles with thermo-laminated foils

Scope

This document specifies the classifications, requirements and test methods for unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) profiles with thermo-laminated foils designed for external uses which are intended to be used for the fabrication of windows and doors.

Purpose

This proposed Part 4 of EN 12608 is required because, in contrast to Part 2, the foil adheres without adhesive and no determination of the peel strength (according to EN 17271) is possible due to the nature of the foil. Because of the paper-thin foil, the adhesion is therefore tested by means of a crosscut test according to EN ISO 2409.

In addition, foils in Part 2 cannot be bonded to profiles made of rPVC. Thermo-lamination has no restrictions on the material of the base profile for decades.
