This document provides additional information valuable to the reader when conducting:
– inspections of RCMs, e.g. ensuring the correct selection of RCMs, correct settings, and the satisfactory condition for use of RCMs;
– in-situ tests of RCMs with test equipment complying with IEC 61557-11 to ensure they operate correctly without interfering with the protective measures implemented in the electrical installation.
This document can also be considered when carrying out specific inspections and/or tests of RCMs already in use in existing electrical installations.
This document does not take precedence over IEC 60364-6 but intends to complement it for in-situ RCM verification.
This document does not concern type tests, routine tests nor any other tests of RCMs, RCDs or
MRCDs which are already defined in relevant product standards and it does not impose any design
nor manufacturing requirements covered by relevant product standards for RCMs, RCDs or MRCDs.
This international Technical Specification provides additional information to users of test equipment for Residual Current Monitors (RCMs) to assist them during initial and periodic verification of electrical installations.
The objective of verification (inspections, tests and reporting) of electrical installations as defined by IEC 60364-6 is to ensure the protective measures are maintained during the lifetime of electrical installations.
