PNW 46-940 ED1: Radio frequency and coaxial cable assemblies- Part 4-4: Detail specification for multi channel semi-rigid cable assemblies, frequency up to 6000MHz, with type 50-5 semi-rigid coaxial cable

Scope

This detail specification relates to IEC 60966-4 Radio frequency and coaxial cable assemblies – Part 4: Sectional specification for semi-rigid coaxial cable assemblies and it should be read in conjunction with IEC 60966-1 and IEC 60966-4.

This detail specification applies multi channel semi-rigid cable assemblies composed of type 50-5 semi-rigid coaxial cables with foamed polyethylene dielectric and connectors such as type MQ4(IEC63138-2),type MQ5(IEC 63138-3),type L32(IEC61169-59), type 7-16 (IEC61169-4), type 4.1-9.5 (IEC61169-11), type N (IEC61169-16), type S 7-16 (IEC61169-53) , type 4.3-10 (IEC61169-54) ,type 2.2-5 (IEC 61169-66) or type Nex10 (IEC 61169-71).

This standard specifies the detail requirement of this series cable assemblies, including product structure, classification, electrical, mechanical, environmental performance and inspection requirements for type 50-5 semi-rigid cable assemblies which are use as jumper cables for mobile communication base station antenna system, terrestrial microwave frequency is up to 6000 MHz.

Purpose

The purpose of this proposal is to add a new detail specification for semi-rigid cable assemblies standard of IEC 60966-4 series standard.

With the rapid development of global mobile communications industrytoward 5 G, more and more mobile base stations will be needed. The multi-channel cable assemblies can realize multi-channel of RF signal connected in the same time, which can reduce the installation space, improve the efficiency of installation, simplify wiring, make the base station more tidy and beautiful, etc. Now multi-channel cable assemblies have become the mainstream assemblies of 5 G mobile communications equipment, such as smart antenna all over the world. This detail specification provides a uniform basis and guidelines for the manufacturers and users
