It is applicable to the CCS(Cargo Containment System) of LNG carrier,LNG FSRU, LNG bunkering vessel and also for the CCS of LNG fuel ships.
The Cargo Containment Cystem (CCS) is the cargo storage unit of LNG ships, usually consisting of insulating material and supporting structure, As the temperature difference between the ultra-low temperature liquid cargo (-163 ) and the atmospheric environment is enormous, boil-off gas inevitably exists in the system. Boil-off-Rate (BOR) is an important index to measure the quality of the system design. How to verify the design performance, Boil-off-Rate (BOR) test method is particularly important. At present, the BOR of LNG tanker Cargo Containment System(CCS) is signed in the contract documents between the shipowner and the shipbuilder. As an important index of thermal insulation performance of liquid cargo containment system, BOR is affected by the thermal conductivity of the heat insulate layer, loading rate, ambient temperature, system pressure and LNG composition and so on. BOR is also related to the design of ultra-low temperature liquid cargo pipeline system. To verify the BOR, real ship test verification is required, the test will define boundary conditions and unify test procedures. At present, there is no unified measurement method around the world, the BOR test and measurement are basically restricted by the liquid cargo containment system design company, which is not conducive to the development of the industry. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an international standard for measuring BOR for CCS of LNG ships. This standard will specify the principle of BOR testing, conditions, devices, processes, data collection and processing, and test reports, which is applicable to LNG carrier, floating storage and transportation unit, cargo containment system of bunkering vessels, also suitable for liquefied natural gas fuelled vessels fuel tanks cargo containment system
