Scope

This standard specifies the methods commonly available for separating adhesively bonded joints enabling repair and improving recycling.

This standard applies to commonly used metal and plastic adherents and non-metallic inorganic adherents including filler-containing types and coated adherents.

Purpose

Separating adhesively bonded joints for repair, reuse and recycling has gained increasing importance in the transition to a circular economy and in meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This standard features a systematic approach and guidelines to available technologies for separating adhesively bonded joints for a broad variety of trades and applications which are not covered by existing standards.
